Manager, Packaging Regulation & Compliance (Food Packaging)

Location: Hybrid, with 3 days onsite weekly at the Chicago/Aon Center or Glenview R&D Center, United States

New hire base salary: $104,200–$130,200 annually, plus eligibility for a performance-based bonus.

What you will do

• Lead food and food packaging regulatory compliance strategies across product categories and markets in North America.
• Monitor and interpret requirements from FDA, USDA, CFIA, and state and provincial regulatory bodies.
• Assess regulatory impacts for new product development, reformulations, market expansions, and commercialization transitions.
• Develop strategies for food and color additives, packaging materials, EPR programs, minimum recycled content, labeling, claims, and reporting requirements.
• Manage regulatory submissions, agency correspondence, compliance monitoring, corrective actions, and enforcement readiness.
• Partner with R&D, Quality, Marketing, Supply Chain, Procurement, Legal, Government Affairs, ESG, and external stakeholders.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in food science, nutrition, chemistry, biology, toxicology, engineering, or a related scientific field.
• 5–8 years of food regulatory experience, including at least 3 years in leadership opportunities.
• Deep knowledge of federal and state food regulations, mandatory labeling, product claims, and consumer packaging.
• Experience with regulatory submissions, agency interactions, compliance programs, commercialization, and trade organizations or government agencies.
• Strong project management, analytical, communication, technical writing, presentation, negotiation, and influence skills.
• Ability to manage multiple complex initiatives in a fast-paced, matrix-oriented organization.
