Director of Regulatory & Compliance (Consumer Products)

Location: Onsite Monday through Friday at the Pico Rivera, California office; no remote work and no relocation package.

Salary: $125,000–$140,000 annual salary, exempt.

What you will do

• Lead global regulatory compliance across consumer products, including lighting fixtures, smoke alarms, smart home electronics, and electrical devices.
• Oversee product certifications, Multiple Listings with UL and Intertek, market access, labeling, packaging, and consumer safety requirements.
• Monitor and implement U.S. and international environmental, trade, battery, packaging, and Extended Producer Responsibility obligations.
• Manage compliance calendars, state-by-state obligation matrices, reseller documentation, stewardship organization participation, and regulatory reporting.
• Represent hirify.global with trade associations, regulatory agencies, and government stakeholders, including limited lobbying and government relations activities.
• Lead cross-functional compliance processes, internal training, audits, inspections, investigations, incident management, corrective actions, and enforcement responses.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree required; an advanced degree in Engineering, Regulatory Affairs, Legal Studies, Environmental Policy, or a related field is preferred.
• 10+ years of progressive regulatory compliance experience in consumer electronics, lighting, or safety-related products.
• Deep expertise in U.S. and international standards, including UL 217, UL 1598, FCC Part 15/18, DOE, and ENERGY STAR.
• Proven experience managing Multiple Listings with UL, Intertek, and similar certification bodies.
• Hands-on experience with state-level EPR programs for batteries and/or packaging, including producer registration, stewardship organization participation, fee remittance, and multi-state compliance tracking.
• Strong project management, communication, documentation, stakeholder-influence, and cross-functional leadership skills.
• Familiarity with Call2Recycle and emerging EPR legislation across multiple U.S. jurisdictions.

Nice to have

• Experience engaging with trade associations such as NEMA and/or regulatory agencies in a representative capacity.
• RAC, CRCM, or equivalent professional certification.
• Advanced degree in a related field.
