Associate Software Engineer (Fullstack)

Location: Onsite at the Reston, Virginia office, United States. Relocation timelines are flexible; expected start dates are Spring 2027 and later.

What you will do

• Build backend infrastructure and frontend web applications for simulation and optimization software.
• Work with probabilistic models of physical systems and contribute across the full problem-solving lifecycle.
• Design algorithms, develop exploratory prototypes, implement software, and support demonstrations and deployment.
• Create data visualizations and analysis tools for research and engineering teams.
• Collaborate in project teams of 2–20 people alongside research scientists and software engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Applied Mathematics, or a related field.
• Programming experience with Java, TypeScript, Python, or C++.
• Proficiency in object-oriented programming and familiarity with full-stack web application development.
• Ability to communicate design concepts and performance metrics clearly.
• US citizenship is required, along with eligibility for access to classified information and successful completion of a security investigation.
• Ability to work from the Reston, VA office is required.

Nice to have

• Experience with MongoDB, RabbitMQ, Spring Boot, React, Redux, WebGL, or OpenGL.
• Experience with algorithmic code, complexity analysis, performance optimization, and multithreading.
• Background in probability and statistics, linear algebra, or multivariate calculus.
• Experience designing and implementing user interfaces.
