Electrical Engineer - Power Generation (Power Generation)

What you will do

• Design utility-scale power generation, distribution, renewable energy, and battery energy storage system projects.
• Develop schematic designs, contract documents, equipment specifications, and balance-of-plant systems including raceways, lighting, grounding, instrumentation, controls, and life safety systems.
• Lead multiple design, engineering, and project administration tasks while coordinating with project managers and other disciplines.
• Prepare and coordinate responses to addenda, RFIs, change orders, and job safety analyses, incorporating approved changes into project documents.
• Conduct project meetings, site reviews, construction contract administration, and startup or commissioning activities as needed.
• Perform QA/QC reviews of work prepared by engineers, project coordinators, and designers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
• Professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the position location, such as a PE or P.Eng. license.
• Experience executing projects in the Power Market Sector, including power generation and distribution design.
• Experience with three-phase electrical power, protection and control design, system grounding, physical design, and power system studies.
• Computer skills in Microsoft Office and standard power-sector design software such as ETAP, SKM, EasyPower, CYMCAD, PSCAD, PLS-CADD, AutoCAD, Plant 3D, AutoPipe, or Revit.
• Commitment to actively participating in an employee-owned culture.

Nice to have

• Protection and control setting calculations and electronic file development.
• Instrumentation and controls experience with DCS and PLC systems.
• Field, startup, and commissioning experience.
• Experience with renewable energy, PV, BESS, DER, or microgrid projects.
• Interest in mentoring engineers, developing client relationships, supporting proposals, and growing into a team lead or section manager role.
