Application Engineering Manager (Java/.NET/TypeScript)

Location: São Paulo, Brazil; hybrid work with an expectation of at least three days in the office per week

What you will do

• Lead, coach, and develop application engineering teams while fostering an inclusive and accountable culture.
• Own delivery across the application lifecycle, from discovery and solution design through development, testing, deployment, maintenance, and improvement.
• Partner with product owners, business stakeholders, architects, and technology teams to align priorities and technical roadmaps with business objectives.
• Guide architectural decisions focused on scalability, security, resilience, maintainability, cost efficiency, and delivery speed.
• Champion clean code, design patterns, Domain-Driven Design, automated testing, code reviews, CI/CD, and agile practices.
• Drive operational excellence through monitoring, incident management, root-cause analysis, technical-debt management, and application-risk remediation.

Requirements

• Proven experience leading and motivating software or application engineering teams.
• Strong hands-on background with object-oriented languages such as Java, .NET, or TypeScript, plus cloud-based architectures.
• Deep understanding of software architecture, APIs, integration approaches, and scalable system design.
• Experience building and operating secure, reliable, and resilient customer-facing or business-critical applications.
• Experience mentoring engineers and creating individualized development paths.
• Professional proficiency in English is required.

Nice to have

• Experience with distributed systems, microservices, distributed databases, and integration patterns.
• Knowledge of SOLID, GRASP, DRY, and CUPID principles.
• Experience with DevSecOps, cloud-native engineering, infrastructure as code, and automated quality controls.
• Experience modernizing legacy applications while maintaining business continuity.
• Background in regulated, security-sensitive, risk, or compliance-heavy environments.
