TL;DR
Assurance Senior Manager - Public Companies/Oil & Gas (Oil & Gas): Coordinating external audits of public company financial statements and related deliverables with an accent on risk assessment, audit quality, client relationships, and leadership of multiple engagement teams. Focus on applying GAAP and CAS-based audit procedures, managing budgets and timelines, developing audit staff, and identifying accounting and business development opportunities.

Location: Calgary, Canada; consistent onsite presence at a firm office, regular client-site travel, and approximately 25% travel required

Compensation: CAD 99,000–168,500 annually, plus discretionary performance-based bonus

What you will do

  • Coordinate audits of public company financial statements, disclosures, and related client deliverables.
  • Assess engagement risks and design, communicate, and monitor risk-based audit procedures.
  • Manage multiple engagement teams, including scopes, timelines, budgets, productivity, and profitability.
  • Supervise Audit Seniors and Supervisors, review work products, and provide coaching and performance feedback.
  • Maintain year-round client relationships, address concerns, and communicate accounting and auditing matters to senior leaders.
  • Support professional development, industry training, business development, and performance improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or another relevant discipline.
  • Active CPA or equivalent certification.
  • At least 9 years of recent assurance experience in public accounting, including extensive external audit experience.
  • Experience leading multiple audit engagements from planning through completion while managing teams, budgets, timelines, and quality standards.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, CASs, audit methodology, control testing, substantive procedures, and financial statement review.
  • Ability to maintain consistent onsite presence during core business hours, report regularly to a firm office in Calgary, work at client sites, and travel as required.
