QA Platform Engineer (DevOps)

Location: Bethesda, Maryland, United States; onsite or remote at NCBI

What you will do

• Build and maintain compliance pipelines with automated quality gates.
• Develop automated tests and QA frameworks using Selenium, Cypress, and Playwright.
• Implement utilities supporting deployment, testing, monitoring, and application quality metrics.
• Develop and improve DevSecOps, DataOps, and observability platforms.
• Maintain common tools and libraries while helping developers adopt platform patterns and best practices.
• Provide QA services on a project basis in an Agile environment.

Requirements

• Strong software development skills in at least one modern programming language, such as Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, Java, C++, Kotlin, Scala, Go, or Rust.
• Experience with automated testing and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD).
• Linux command-line skills; system administration experience is a bonus.
• Knowledge of web, RPC, or other software frameworks and coding or architecture design patterns is beneficial.
• B.S. in a STEM field or equivalent industry experience in systems engineering.

Nice to have

• Experience with Kubernetes, containerization, GitOps, OpenShift, Anthos, GKE, AKS, EKS, or Nomad.
• Familiarity with observability tools, service meshes, messaging and streaming systems, or secret management platforms.
• Experience with Git hosting, CI/CD, build, and artifact management tools such as GitLab, GitHub, Bitbucket, TeamCity, and Artifactory.
