Software Development Engineer in Test

Location: United States, San Mateo, CA. The role follows a hybrid working policy.

Salary: $140,500–$210,700 USD per year, with potential bonus eligibility.

What you will do

• Design test strategies, test plans, test cases, and risk assessments for new features and platform enhancements.
• Build and maintain scalable automation frameworks for UI, API, integration, and end-to-end testing.
• Develop and execute automated and manual tests across platforms, devices, and environments.
• Investigate, reproduce, document, and verify defects with software engineering and quality teams.
• Monitor automation pipelines, analyze results, improve test reliability, and integrate tests into CI/CD pipelines.
• Contribute to quality engineering practices, coding standards, automation strategy, code reviews, and quality reporting.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 3–5 years of experience in SDET, Quality Engineering, or Test Automation.
• Strong programming experience with one or more of Python, Java, JavaScript, C#, or C++.
• Experience building automated test frameworks and using UI automation tools such as Playwright, Selenium, Cypress, or Appium.
• Experience testing RESTful APIs, SDKs, libraries, backend services, and native applications.
• Experience with Git, CI/CD tools, Agile/Scrum environments, and strong analytical, debugging, and communication skills.

Nice to have

• Experience testing gaming consoles, embedded systems, mobile devices, or consumer electronics.
• Experience with production software, backend services, cloud platforms, Docker, Kubernetes, or microservices architectures.
• Knowledge of performance, scalability, security, load testing, and test reporting analytics.
