Senior AI/ML Engineer

Location: Remote within the United States; hiring is open only in AL, AR, AZ, FL, GA, IA, ID, IL, IN, KS, LA, MD, MO, MS, NC, ND, NE, NM, NV, OR, OK, PA, SC, SD, TN, TX, and UT. The position may require up to 10% travel and occasional on-call availability.

What you will do

• Own architecture and technical standards for AI/ML platforms, agent frameworks, agent harnesses, and agentic workflows.
• Define MCP integration patterns, tool contracts, access controls, lifecycle standards, and the boundary between deterministic network automation and AI-driven consumption.
• Design reusable patterns for multi-agent coordination, long-running workflows, retrieval, grounding, memory, source attribution, and knowledge packaging.
• Establish evaluation frameworks for correctness, safety, reliability, hallucination reduction, and tool execution.
• Guide AI Engineers through design reviews, mentoring, code reviews, implementation patterns, and architectural support.
• Partner with Platform, Data, Network Management Systems, Reporting, Capacity, UI/UX, and Front-End Engineering on production-ready AI-assisted experiences.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical field is preferred, or at least 8 years of progressive experience in software, platform, data, or AI/ML engineering.
• Five or more years of experience designing or delivering AI/ML, large language model, or agentic systems is preferred.
• Strong Python development skills and experience building production-grade services and integrations.
• Experience with LLMs, agent frameworks, tool calling, retrieval-augmented generation, context engineering, model evaluation, REST APIs, event-driven integrations, and structured data.
• Experience with MCP or comparable tool-integration architectures, vector or graph databases, knowledge graphs, cloud AI services, containers, Git, CI/CD, testing, monitoring, and production support.
• Experience applying security, governance, human approval, auditability, responsible AI, and production-readiness practices; telecommunications or network engineering experience is preferred.

Nice to have

• Experience with Semantic Kernel, LangGraph, LangChain, Azure AI services, or Azure OpenAI.
• Relevant Azure, AWS, Google Cloud, Databricks, Kubernetes, responsible AI, cloud security, data engineering, or architecture certifications.
• Experience with telecommunications, ISP, infrastructure, or operational technology environments.
