Principal AI Engineer (Agentic AI)

Location: Vienna, Virginia, United States (hybrid). Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM, at 820 Follin Lane.

What you will do

• Lead AI solution delivery from discovery through production, including planning, milestones, dependencies, risk management, and release readiness.
• Architect and implement scalable AI systems with data pipelines, model training and inference patterns, and application or service integrations.
• Build production-grade AI agents using LLM workflows, orchestration, RAG, grounding, evaluation gates, and safety controls.
• Establish engineering standards for code quality, automated testing, performance, observability, operational runbooks, and reusable AI components.
• Drive AI governance, model lifecycle practices, responsible AI controls, technical roadmaps, and operational resilience.
• Mentor engineers, lead design and code reviews, and present technical strategies and delivery status to senior leadership.

Requirements

• Must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, statistics, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent education, training, and experience.
• 7–10 years of experience in AI or a similar field, including modern generative AI and agentic patterns.
• Hands-on experience with Azure AI Foundry, AI agents, MCP or A2A, Databricks, vector stores, graph databases, and API integrations for LLMs.
• Advanced Python and API or service development skills, including distributed, resilient, containerized systems and automated testing.
• Experience with AI threat modeling, prompt-injection defenses, data-loss prevention, agent authorization, secure tool execution, responsible AI, model risk, Agile/SAFe, and CI/CD.
