Quality Engineer (Manufacturing)

Location: Hagerstown, Maryland, United States

Pay range: $64,500–$103,500 annually across U.S. locations.

What you will do

• Lead cross-functional quality and process improvement projects to reduce defects, improve process capability, and support Quality Plan goals.
• Review customer issues, warranty claims, field concerns, and quality data to identify trends, risks, and recurring failure modes.
• Facilitate root-cause and corrective-action sessions using 8D, 5-Why, fishbone, Pareto analysis, and containment planning.
• Lead or support APQP, PFMEA, control plans, launch readiness, PPAP, and validation of quality controls.
• Develop corrective and preventive actions, standardize quality procedures and work instructions, and train teams on consistent execution.
• Coordinate internal audits and collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Supplier Quality, Sales, and Customer Support; travel as required.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Quality, Business Management, Data Science, Engineering, or equivalent related work experience.
• Background in manufacturing, manufacturing quality, data analytics, customer support, or heavy machinery.
• Experience with RCCA/8D problem solving, APQP, PFMEA, control plans, PPAP, internal audits, and quality metrics.
• Ability to analyze warranty, defect, process, and customer data and implement sustainable process improvements.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings, GD&T, specifications, and product or process characteristics.
• Experience with Microsoft Office, preferably advanced Excel, and quality or business systems such as Salesforce, SharePoint, Power BI, Tableau, or Minitab.

Nice to have

• Advanced training or experience with Lean Six Sigma, DMAIC, statistical methods, FMEA, control plans, and structured continuous improvement tools.
• Experience supporting product launches, major process changes, or customer quality initiatives in industrial manufacturing environments.
