Quality Engineer (Vision Systems)

Location: Faribault, Minnesota, United States; primarily office-based with frequent interaction on the plant floor

Pay range: $75,000–$85,000 per year

What you will do

• Own the use, accuracy, effectiveness, maintenance, and calibration of automated vision and inspection systems.
• Configure defect classification software and continuously improve inspection capabilities through defect and classifier analysis.
• Train Quality Technicians, production leaders, and peers on inspection-system procedures and provide technical guidance in a 24/5 production environment.
• Support the Quality Management System through document control, audits, audit reports, and corrective-action follow-up.
• Lead quality-improvement projects, analyze OEE and yield metrics, and apply statistical problem-solving to reduce poor-quality costs.
• Conduct process capability studies and develop inspection, testing, and evaluation standards for new products and processes.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, quality, business administration, science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Manufacturing quality experience and strong knowledge of quality management systems and industry standards.
• Programming skills, such as Visual Basic, Wonderware, or another programming language.
• Experience with auditing, process documentation, root-cause analysis, and continuous improvement projects.
• Ability to read, write, and understand work instructions in English.
• Ability to travel, work off-shifts as needed, work safely around plant-floor equipment, and operate with minimal supervision.

Nice to have

• Formal Lean Six Sigma training.
• Experience with Minitab, SPSS, JMP, SharePoint, MS Access, or Power BI.
• ASQ Certified Quality Engineer certification.
• Vision systems experience.
• Experience applying artificial intelligence tools to improve decision-making and operational efficiency.
