Staff Firmware Engineer (Embedded)

Location: Austin, Texas, United States; onsite — remote work is not available

What you will do

• Design, develop, and verify embedded firmware for digital PWM voltage regulators.
• Implement firmware patches for new features and hardware workarounds.
• Define hardware-firmware interfaces with the hardware design team based on user requirements.
• Document firmware architecture and implementation specifications.
• Bring up new silicon and debug issues in collaboration with the validation team.
• Develop automated firmware tests using laboratory test equipment.

Requirements

• 8+ years of firmware development experience on custom SoCs in pre- and post-silicon environments.
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering or a related field.
• Expertise in embedded firmware development using C and assembly.
• Experience with interrupts, memory, performance optimization, state-machine task management, and RTOS concepts.
• Experience with hardware RTL design in Verilog, Linux command line, and Python or Perl scripting.
• Strong analytical, debugging, documentation, and communication skills.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of ARM Cortex-M processors and the ARM compiler toolchain.
• Experience with Cadence or Synopsys tools such as SimVision or Verdi.
• Understanding of I2C and SPI serial bus protocols.
• Experience with TDD, standalone firmware unit-test benches, and DC-DC buck converter concepts.
