Senior Complex Director, Excess

Location: NY-New York, United States; primarily in the office

Base salary: $118,000–$173,000 annually for positions based in New York. The position is also eligible for a bonus.

Global commercial and personal insurance provider specializing in property and casualty risk solutions.

What you will do

• Investigate, evaluate, and resolve new and existing third-party property and casualty claims, including multimillion-dollar complex losses.
• Determine coverage under excess commercial general liability and automobile policies.
• Develop investigation strategies addressing liability, causation, damages, risk transfer, and contribution opportunities.
• Direct litigation, attend mediations and trials, use alternative dispute resolution, and negotiate settlements.
• Document exposure evaluations, resolution strategies, litigation budgets, and expenses.
• Present claim disposition recommendations to senior management and communicate with insureds, brokers, underwriters, attorneys, claimants, counsel, and vendors.

Requirements

• 8+ years of commercial or industry claims experience preferred.
• Advanced experience managing litigated claims, including alternative dispute resolution and mediation.
• Experience handling pre-suit, litigated, and post-trial claims at mediations and settlement conferences.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong negotiation abilities.
• Property and casualty adjusting licenses are required and must be obtained within six months.
• A JD is helpful but not required.
