Senior Civil Engineer (Renewable Energy)

Location: Denver, Colorado, United States; four days in the office with flexibility to work elsewhere on Fridays

Salary: $115,000–$150,000 USD per year

What you will do

• Lead civil engineering practice activities and coordinate with architects, engineers, clients, and multidisciplinary design teams.
• Design and coordinate site development documents for utility-scale solar, battery energy storage, utility infrastructure, data centers, microgrids, and other complex developments.
• Prepare site layouts, grading and drainage plans, stormwater management designs, paving, utilities, calculations, reports, specifications, and permitting applications.
• Evaluate and implement civil engineering techniques for complex assignments.
• Review shop drawings and construction correspondence, and conduct site visits as needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• 8+ years of civil engineering experience, including site development for energy, utility infrastructure, mission-critical, building, or large-scale development projects.
• Experience in an architecture and engineering consulting environment or civil engineering design firm.
• Proficiency in Autodesk Civil 3D and strong knowledge of grading, drainage, stormwater management, and utility design.
• Experience leading civil engineers, coordinating multidisciplinary infrastructure projects, managing competing deadlines, and handling permitting requirements.

Nice to have

• Experience with renewable energy, solar, battery storage, transmission, distribution, or utility infrastructure projects.
• Experience with data center site development and mission-critical facilities.
• Knowledge of Hydraflow, HEC-RAS, Storm and Sanitary Sewer Analysis, GIS, or ArcGIS.
• Familiarity with utility interconnection, power delivery infrastructure, sustainable site design, resiliency planning, and low-impact development.
• Experience working with electric utilities, independent power producers, or hyperscale data center clients.
