Underwriter, Professional Risks

Location: Chicago, IL, United States; hybrid work with two required office days per week. Regional travel throughout the West Coast of up to 25% is required.

Salary: $70,000–$100,000 per year, plus performance-based bonus.

What you will do

• Underwrite, price, and negotiate new business and complex renewals in miscellaneous professional liability.
• Develop new broker relationships and deepen existing relationships to drive production.
• Assess risks and write policies aligned with product strategy, underwriting guidelines, and profitability goals.
• Handle commercial general liability, professional liability/E&O, and occasional cross-sold cyber coverage.
• Collaborate with the national MPL team to share knowledge and improve results.
• Maintain customer service standards, meet quote output targets, and attend broker visits and industry events.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of experience in professional E&O coverage.
• Proven ability to understand and deliver meaningful underwriting profit.
• Strong sales, presentation, negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Customer-focused, detail-oriented, results-driven, and able to work independently in a collaborative environment.
• Ability to identify business needs, develop business, and collaborate across teams.
• A bachelor’s degree is preferred.
