Senior Electrical Engineer (Battery Energy Storage Systems)

Location: United States locations including Phoenix, Round Rock, Reno, Austin, Denver, Portland, Chicago, Minneapolis, Tucson, Las Vegas, Dallas, Albuquerque, Madison, Milwaukee, and Ann Arbor

Compensation: $122,815–$199,375 annually in California; other state ranges include Colorado, Nevada, Minnesota, and Illinois.

What you will do

• Develop conceptual layouts, one-line diagrams, detailed electrical designs, and Issue for Construction packages for grid-scale BESS projects.
• Evaluate energy storage technologies, products, and vendors, and support technology selection and implementation.
• Support microgrid, distributed energy resource, power generation, and renewable energy projects.
• Prepare design plans, technical specifications, cost estimates, construction documents, feasibility reports, and use-case analyses.
• Coordinate with civil, structural, fire and life safety, high-voltage electrical, SCADA/telecommunications, water, and geotechnical disciplines.
• Provide quality control, construction-phase technical support, client and vendor coordination, workload planning, and mentorship to junior staff.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with an electrical emphasis.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• At least 10 years of experience in BESS, power generation, renewables, electrical distribution, or power system controls.
• Experience with electrical design of buildings, including lighting, power, and systems.
• Knowledge of BESS integration, electrical codes and standards, communication network topology, fire alarm systems, and relay coordination.
• Strong computer skills with AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, Revit, SKM, AGI, and Easy Power; willingness to travel up to 10% domestically and internationally.
