Principal Software Engineer (.NET Technical Lead)

Location: Chicago, IL, United States. Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. without employment-based visa sponsorship.

Salary: $137,400–$233,600 USD annually, plus a discretionary bonus program that may include an equity component.

What you will do

• Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to engineering teams.
• Design architectures, technical standards, and implementation strategies for major systems and applications.
• Translate business and product requirements into scalable, resilient, secure, and high-performing technical solutions.
• Develop and support applications with C#, .NET, ASP.NET Core, Entity Framework Core, SQL Server, and modern API frameworks.
• Architect cloud-native microservices and event-driven solutions using Kafka, Azure and/or AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, and Infrastructure as Code.
• Lead technical planning, delivery, CI/CD, automated testing, DevOps, security, compliance, and adoption of AI-assisted engineering tools.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 10+ years of software engineering experience with enterprise-scale systems.
• 5+ years in technical leadership, solution design, systems analysis, or project leadership.
• Strong expertise in C#, .NET Core, ASP.NET Core, Entity Framework Core, SQL Server, REST APIs, and microservices architecture.
• Experience with Kafka or equivalent messaging platforms, Docker, Kubernetes, Azure and/or AWS, and CI/CD tools.
• Hands-on experience with GitHub Copilot and other AI-assisted software engineering tools, plus strong knowledge of SDLC, distributed systems, Agile, and DevOps practices.

Nice to have

• Financial services experience.
• Knowledge of Terraform or other Infrastructure as Code tools.
• Familiarity with OAuth, JWT, SAML, SSO, and identity management solutions.
