Software Engineer 2 - Linux/Bash/Python/Java/Ansible/CI/CD/Docker/Kubernetes

Location: Annapolis Junction, Maryland, United States — hybrid

Annual salary: $130,000–$270,000, depending on years of experience.

What you will do

• Design, develop, and maintain tools and services for GitLab, Artifactory, MinIO, GitLab Runner, Jupyter, and SPARTANDESK.
• Build integrations that improve productivity and streamline workflows.
• Develop Java software and Bash, Python, and PHP scripts for administrative automation.
• Apply infrastructure-as-code principles and automate environments with Ansible.
• Implement CI/CD workflows and containerized solutions using GitLab CI and Docker.
• Collaborate with software developers, system administrators, project managers, and mission customers.

Requirements

• Must be a U.S. citizen and currently hold a Top Secret/SCI U.S. Government security clearance with a favorable polygraph.
• Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline plus three years of relevant software engineering experience, or bachelor’s degree plus five years of experience, or seven years of relevant experience.
• Strong experience with the Linux CLI, Linux tools, Java development, and scripting for workflow automation.
• Experience with Ansible, CI/CD methodologies and tools, Docker, Git, branching strategies, and team collaboration.
• Experience using an integrated development environment such as the Atlassian plugin software developer kit.
• Ability to document configurations, procedures, and system changes.

Nice to have

• Experience with JIRA and Confluence.
• Experience sustaining mission applications in Linux environments.
• Experience interacting with or training external customers.
