Project Manager (Software Development)

Location: Bethesda, Maryland, onsite at NIH-NCBI and/or remote work within the United States

What you will do

• Coordinate the full software development lifecycle in a scientific environment using Agile methodology.
• Define technical and functional requirements, plan quality control, and support implementation, upgrades, and integration with existing NCBI systems.
• Coordinate complex technical projects involving scientific and genomic data.
• Manage software and system design, specifications, implementation, integration, and testing.
• Track milestones, produce deliverables, and balance project risks, schedules, and resources.
• Coordinate cross-functional teams, advise senior management, and communicate project issues to stakeholders.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• At least 3 years of project management experience and at least 5 years of experience developing software or managing software development.
• Strong technical knowledge of software application development.
• Experience managing software development projects using Agile methodology.
• Experience coordinating work across multiple teams and departments.
• Experience delivering complex enterprise-level software development projects, with effective verbal and written communication skills.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree and PMP certification.
• Experience with scientific, biological, clinical, or genomic data.
• Experience as a software development technical lead.
• Experience with large databases, statistical analysis, distributed systems, cloud computing, or research and development environments.
