TL;DR
Senior Engineering & Equipment Technician (automated manufacturing equipment): Maintaining, repairing, troubleshooting, and improving automated and semi-automated equipment used to produce microfluidic and capillary-based protein analysis cartridges with an accent on electromechanical diagnostics, equipment reliability, and cleanroom manufacturing. Focus on leading root-cause analysis for complex mechanical, electronic, pneumatic, fluidic, and motion-control failures, validating equipment improvements, and mentoring technicians.

Location: Wallingford, Connecticut, United States; onsite

Pay range: $28.80–$39.60 per hour

What you will do

  • Maintain continuous operation of automated and semi-automated production equipment through diagnostics, repair, calibration, adjustment, and component replacement.
  • Lead troubleshooting of mechanical, electronic, pneumatic, fluidic, and motion-control systems using specialized diagnostic instrumentation.
  • Improve preventive and predictive maintenance programs and serve as the escalation point for recurring or high-impact failures.
  • Collaborate with production and engineering teams on equipment and process issues, corrective actions, validation, and qualification activities.
  • Train and mentor operators and technicians in equipment setup, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Maintain maintenance and calibration records in support of ISO 13485 audits and assist with facility equipment as needed.

Requirements

  • Expert troubleshooting and repair capability with automated manufacturing and electromechanical equipment.
  • Proficiency with oscilloscopes, multimeters, current probes, power analyzers, and related diagnostic tools.
  • Experience with motors, actuators, sensors, pneumatics, vacuum systems, fluid handling equipment, and automated systems.
  • Ability to interpret electrical schematics, I/O drawings, mechanical drawings, and pneumatic diagrams.
  • Associate degree in manufacturing, engineering technology, electronics, mechatronics, or an electro-mechanical discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • 5–8+ years maintaining and troubleshooting automated manufacturing equipment, including experience resolving complex failures and mentoring technicians.

Nice to have

  • Exposure to PLCs, HMIs, National Instruments, Beckhoff, and related control software.
  • Experience leading equipment reliability improvement initiatives.
  • Understanding of machining, molding, assembly, material properties, and ISO 13485 requirements.
