Principal Landscape Architect

What you will do

• Lead site and public realm design from master planning and concept development through construction documentation and construction observation.
• Manage site-design-focused pursuits, including project scope, schedule, fee, proposals, and delivery across all phases.
• Develop client relationships and contribute to business development, marketing, and pursuit strategy.
• Lead zoning and site plan approvals, public engagement, design charrettes, programming, design review, and implementation.
• Direct 2D and 3D concept drawings, digital color renderings, and production work while coordinating documents across disciplines.
• Collaborate with urban designers, landscape architects, architects, planners, engineers, and other specialists; mentor early-career professionals and help grow the studio.

Requirements

• 15 years of related landscape architecture experience, including at least 7 years of project management experience.
• Professional Landscape Architect license in Iowa and Nebraska.
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field; a master’s degree in urban design, landscape architecture, or a related field is preferred.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary design teams through construction document preparation, technical detailing, and project implementation.
• Experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Land F/X, Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, estimating and scheduling software, and project management software.
• Excellent communication, organizational, graphic, and time-management skills, with willingness to travel for project work and internal collaboration.

Nice to have

• Experience with Revit + Environment, Rhino, Lumion, VRAY, Enscape, Twinmotion, and related digital rendering tools.
• Master’s degree in urban design, landscape architecture, or a related field.
• Professional or community involvement with organizations such as ASLA, APA, AIA, or ULI.
• Experience with sustainable or regenerative design and strategically growing and retaining design teams.
