TL;DR
Landscape Architect II (Land Development): Designing sustainable and resilient landscapes, sites, and urban environments from early concepts through construction with an accent on technical documentation, permitting, and multidisciplinary coordination. Focus on developing construction documents and permit packages, analyzing site conditions, supporting construction, and solving complex site challenges across education, mixed-use, housing, commercial, institutional, and infrastructure projects.

Location: Owings Mills, Maryland, United States; full-time onsite role with regular fieldwork and site visits

Compensation: $101,460.24–$114,142.77 per year

hirify.global’s Land Development team delivers multidisciplinary landscape architecture, civil engineering, and design services for campuses, neighborhoods, commercial environments, and infrastructure-related projects.

What you will do

  • Lead and contribute to site and landscape design from early concepts through construction.
  • Prepare presentation materials, permit packages, construction documents, technical reports, calculations, and feasibility studies.
  • Develop designs using Civil 3D, AutoCAD, and MicroStation.
  • Conduct site investigations, inventories, and analysis to support defensible design decisions.
  • Design sustainable and resilient landscapes, including podium and urban environments.
  • Coordinate with project managers, civil engineers, architects, agencies, clients, and contractors throughout project delivery.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in landscape architecture from an accredited program.
  • Licensed Professional Landscape Architect (PLA), with Maryland licensure preferred.
  • 7+ years of professional experience in landscape architecture, land development, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of site planning, site analysis, and urban design principles.
  • Proficiency in Civil 3D, AutoCAD, MicroStation, SketchUp, Microsoft Office, and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Working knowledge of Maryland permitting processes and the Maryland Forest Conservation Act; regular fieldwork may involve up to eight hours outdoors, uneven terrain, and varying weather conditions.

Nice to have

  • Experience with Enscape or Land F/X.
  • Baltimore City permitting experience.
  • Familiarity with native and adaptive plant materials in the Northeastern region.
