Software Engineer 4 (Splunk)

Location: Annapolis Junction, Maryland, United States; onsite role

Annual salary: $130,000–$270,000, depending on experience.

What you will do

• Design, develop, and maintain a distributed metrics and monitoring solution for HPC systems.
• Build Splunk dashboards, reports, alerts, data models, and event-correlation workflows.
• Onboard and extract fields from Splunk data while tuning performance.
• Develop Shell, Perl, and Python automation to reduce manual processes.
• Integrate Linux log-management tools and Kafka message brokers.
• Apply IaC and CI/CD practices using Ansible and GitLab CI.

Requirements

• Must currently hold a Top Secret/SCI U.S. Government security clearance with a favorable polygraph.
• Must be a U.S. citizen.
• Master’s degree plus 10 years of relevant software engineering experience, bachelor’s degree plus 12 years, or 14 years of relevant experience.
• Strong experience with Linux CLI and tools, Shell or Perl scripting, and recent Python development.
• Proficiency with Splunk SPL, dashboards, reports, data onboarding, field extractions, alerting, incident workflows, and performance tuning.
• Experience with Syslog-ng or rsyslog, Kafka, Ansible, GitLab CI, and Git.

Nice to have

• Experience with the Atlassian Tool Suite, including JIRA and Confluence.
