Substance Abuse Counselor (Part-Time)

Location: On-site in Johnston, Rhode Island, USA. Schedule: Monday–Friday, 5:00 AM–9:00 AM.

Pay: $24–$29 per hour plus a bonus structure.

What you will do

• Provide individual and group counseling for patients recovering from drug and alcohol disorders.
• Build trusting relationships and create an inclusive, respectful, and compassionate care environment.
• Guide new and returning patients through intake and orientation.
• Develop, update, and maintain individualized treatment plans and accurate patient records.
• Connect patients with community resources, follow up on referrals, and respond to crisis situations.
• Collect and assess information about patients’ social, educational, economic, and vocational needs while complying with applicable regulations.

Requirements

• Must work on-site in Johnston, Rhode Island.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in human services or a related field.
• Meet state-level requirements.
• Ability to use sound judgment when handling confidential and sensitive issues.
• Ability to work effectively with patients and colleagues in stressful situations and seek supervisory guidance when needed.
• Knowledge of human behavior, substance abuse populations, treatment planning, and human social services.

Nice to have

• CADC, LCDP, LADC, or LCADC certification.
• Experience in behavioral health.
