Assignment Readiness Counselor (Behavioral Health)

Location: Peoria, Illinois, United States; on-site military installation and school/community settings

What you will do

• Provide non-medical, short-term, solution-focused counseling to adults, children, and youth connected to military service.
• Conduct assessments, brief counseling, consultation, action planning, referrals, and follow-up.
• Support child development centers, DoDEA and community schools, youth programs, summer camps, and military readiness centers.
• Deliver training, health and wellness presentations, health fair participation, and parent guidance.
• Partner with installation Points of Contact and community resources to meet local behavioral health needs.
• Respond to critical incidents and special requests while following DoD protocols for duty-to-warn and restricted-reporting situations.

Requirements

• Master’s degree from an accredited graduate program in behavioral health, mental health, or social work.
• Current independent behavioral health licensure in any state, such as LCSW, LPC, or LMFT.
• Ability to prove US citizenship and fluent English.
• Clinical work experience and advanced knowledge of brief therapy and solution-focused counseling.
• Availability to accept short-notice assignments of varying length, including weekends and assignments from a weekend to two weeks.
• Ability to work independently, adapt to varying installation rules and conditions, and respond quickly in military-base and school environments.

Nice to have

• Prior military service, military family experience, or strong familiarity with military culture.
• For CYB assignments, experience working with children and youth and a specialization in child and adolescent development or psychology.
• Experience working in a school setting for CYB school-position coverage.
