Assignment Readiness Counselor - Short Term and On Demand

Location: Remote, Dayton, Ohio, United States; assignments may take place at military installations, schools, youth programs, summer camps, and other designated worksites.

What you will do

• Provide non-medical, short-term, solution-focused counseling to adults, children, youth, service members, and their families.
• Conduct assessments, brief counseling, action planning, referrals, resource linkage, and follow-up.
• Support child and youth settings, including schools, child development centers, youth programs, and summer camps.
• Deliver parent consultations, staff guidance, training, health and wellness presentations, and installation activities.
• Partner with installation Points of Contact and military branches to align services with local needs.
• Document counselor activity daily while maintaining confidentiality and anonymity, and respond to critical incidents and special requests.

Requirements

• Master’s degree from an accredited graduate program in behavioral health, mental health, or social work.
• Current independent behavioral health licensure in any state, such as LCSW, LPC, or LMFT.
• Ability to prove US citizenship and fluent English.
• Advanced knowledge of brief therapy and solution-focused counseling methods.
• Ability to accept short-notice assignments of varying duration, including weekends, and cover full-time assignments lasting from a weekend to two weeks.
• Ability to work independently, adapt quickly to different locations and site requirements, and respond to emergent situations on military installations or in school settings.

Nice to have

• Prior military service, military family experience, or strong familiarity with military culture.
• For child and youth assignments, experience with children and youth and a specialty in child and adolescent development or psychology.
• School-setting experience for counselors covering child and youth school positions.
