Alcohol and Drug Counselor (Substance Use Counseling)

What you will do

• Conduct Trainee Employee Assistance Program assessments and develop individualized intervention and support plans.
• Provide individual counseling, relapse-prevention support, and substance-use prevention education.
• Facilitate group sessions, workshops, and educational programs for students and employees.
• Coordinate integrated support with center departments, community agencies, mental health, medical, and health services staff.
• Maintain TEAP procedures, program data, quality-assurance audits, and quarterly Department of Labor reports.
• Ensure proper specimen collection, documentation, and handling under chain-of-custody standards, and support tobacco-use prevention activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, counseling, public health, or a related behavioral-science field.
• Certification as an Addiction Counselor issued by the Puerto Rico Board of Certification for Addiction and Alcoholism Professionals is required.
• Knowledge of substance-use prevention, early intervention, and case management.
• Strong communication, crisis-management, group facilitation, confidentiality, and multidisciplinary collaboration skills.
• Fluency in both English and Spanish, with strong verbal and written communication skills in both languages.
• Valid Puerto Rico Category 4 driver’s license, clean driving record, and current Health Certificate required.
