ESS Terminals SME Engineer (SATCOM)

Location: On-site in Colorado Springs, Colorado, at a secure facility. Minimal travel and standard working hours.

Salary: $167,000–$209,000 annually.

What you will do

• Design, implement, and maintain complex infrastructure, platform, and software systems supporting National Leadership Authority capabilities.
• Define next-generation space communication systems for Space Force Military Satellite Communications.
• Develop and manage system requirements, technical baselines, and Interface Control Documents for complex systems.
• Support systems engineering, integration, testing, verification, and validation activities.
• Collaborate with SE&I team members, contractors, government civilians, outside organizations, and USSF personnel.
• Oversee requirements development, delivery, implementation, technical projects, best practices, and documentation.

Requirements

• Active DoD Top Secret clearance.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, mathematics, physics, computer science, or a related technical field.
• 15+ years of systems engineering experience, including requirements and technical baseline development, test planning and integration, verification, and validation.
• Experience with MILSATCOM systems such as AEHF, PTS, EPS, WGS, and FAB-T, and ground systems such as MPSS and CCS-C.
• Experience with ground and airborne systems, including terminals, networks, command and control, and planning subsystems.
• Strong communication, presentation, interpersonal, and Microsoft Office skills.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in a technical field.
• Familiarity with the National Security SATCOM System Synchronization Roadmap.
• Experience with Agile development, Jira, and Confluence.
• Professional certification such as PMP, INCOSE CSEP, or ESEP.
