Strategic ICD Engineer (Space Defense)

Location: On-site in El Segundo, California, at a secure facility

Basic compensation: $135,000–$169,000 annually

What you will do

• Lead the development of Satellite Interface Control Documents for spacecraft, ground systems, payloads, and cross-system interfaces in an MBSE environment.
• Create interface diagrams, data dictionaries, message formats, command and telemetry mappings, and system-level interface descriptions.
• Identify interface risks and drive technical issue resolution across engineering teams.
• Support system integration and test activities through authoritative interface documentation and technical clarification.
• Coordinate Interface Control Working Groups and collaborate with configuration management teams for Engineering Review Boards and Configuration Control Boards.
• Prepare acquisition and technical requirements briefings, plans, papers, and other materials for government decision-making.

Requirements

• Active TS/SCI clearance required.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering and 8+ years of experience in satellite systems, spacecraft development, or aerospace engineering.
• 8+ years of experience working on DoD programs, including 5+ years developing architecture models and using MBSE.
• Direct experience developing or managing ICDs for complex systems and familiarity with spacecraft subsystems and flight hardware.
• Experience creating schematics, interface diagrams, and data communication structures, with the ability to lead a small technical team.
• Proficiency with Cameo, DOORS, MATLAB, SysML, UPDM, DoDAF, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, plus strong technical writing and presentation skills.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in engineering.
• Experience with space systems in space or ground segments and in space acquisitions environments.
• Satellite hardware and software development experience.
• MBSE certification such as OCSMP or professional certification such as INCOSE CSEP, ESEP, ASEP, or PMP.
