Senior Workers' Compensation Claims Examiner - Federal Claims

Location: Atlanta, Georgia; primarily in the office

Salary: $73,000–$96,000 base salary annually for positions based in Illinois, plus eligibility for a bonus under the applicable incentive plan.

What you will do

• Investigate, handle, litigate, negotiate, and settle federal workers’ compensation claims.
• Evaluate claims promptly and cost-effectively while protecting recovery rights where applicable.
• Identify and review suspected fraudulent claims in line with established guidelines.
• Build effective relationships with brokers, clients, lawyers, medical experts, injured workers, and internal stakeholders.
• Support Team Managers, deputize during absences, and provide mentoring and technical guidance to Claim Representatives.
• Monitor claims-handling practices and collaborate with underwriting colleagues to improve insurance products.

Requirements

• Knowledge of legal, regulatory, litigation, and procedural requirements for workers’ compensation claims.
• Proven experience evaluating settlements and conducting negotiations.
• Ability to accurately interpret policy language and wording.
• Strong investigation, claims-handling, problem-solving, communication, time-management, administrative, and report-writing skills.
• Ability to work primarily in the office in Atlanta.

Nice to have

• Specialist knowledge of Defense Base Act claims.
• Experience supporting team leadership or mentoring claims professionals.
