Software Engineer 3 (Linux/Bash/Python/Rust/Splunk/Kafka/CI/CD/Git)

Location: Annapolis Junction, Maryland, United States; onsite role requiring U.S. citizenship and a current Top Secret/SCI U.S. Government security clearance with a favorable polygraph.

Annual salary: $130,000–$270,000, depending on experience.

What you will do

• Design, develop, and maintain a distributed metrics and monitoring solution for HPC systems.
• Support the reliability, performance, and scalability of HPC infrastructure.
• Develop Bash automation scripts for manual processes.
• Build and maintain software using Rust and Python.
• Integrate Splunk, message brokers, data-storage systems, presentation tools, and log-management platforms.
• Apply infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD, and Git-based development practices.

Requirements

• Must be a U.S. citizen and currently hold a Top Secret/SCI U.S. Government security clearance with a favorable polygraph.
• Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline plus five years of relevant software engineering experience; or bachelor’s degree plus seven years; or nine years of relevant experience.
• Professional experience with the Linux CLI and Linux tools.
• Recent software development experience with Rust and Python.
• Experience with Splunk, Syslog-ng, rsyslog, message brokers, data storage, and presentation tools.
• Experience with Ansible, CI/CD tools such as GitLab CI, and Git source control.

Nice to have

• Experience with the Atlassian Tool Suite, including JIRA and Confluence.
• Experience with Elasticsearch.
