TL;DR
Strategic MBSE Requirements & ICD Lead (Aerospace) (MBSE/ICDs): Leading the development and management of satellite interface control documents, architecture models, and requirements documentation for complex space and ground communications systems with an accent on model-based systems engineering, interface definition, and systems integration. Focus on coordinating interface control working groups, resolving cross-system risks, aligning technical baselines, and supporting U.S. Space Force acquisition decisions.

Location: On-site in El Segundo, California, United States, at a secure facility. U.S. citizenship and an active DoD Top Secret security clearance with SCI are required.

Salary: $135,000–$169,000 USD per year

What you will do

  • Lead the development of satellite Interface Control Documents for spacecraft, ground systems, payloads, and cross-system interfaces in an MBSE environment.
  • Develop interface diagrams, data dictionaries, message formats, command and telemetry mappings, and system-level interface descriptions.
  • Identify interface risks and drive technical issue resolution across engineering teams.
  • Support systems integration and test activities through authoritative interface documentation and technical clarification.
  • Coordinate Interface Control Working Groups and collaborate with configuration management teams on Engineering Review Boards and Configuration Control Boards.
  • Align MBSE models with the technical baseline, including ICDs and requirements flowdown, and prepare acquisition and technical materials for government decision-making.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
  • 8+ years of experience in satellite systems, spacecraft development, or aerospace engineering, including 8+ years on DoD programs.
  • 5+ years of experience developing architecture models and using model-based systems engineering.
  • Direct experience developing or managing ICDs for complex systems, with familiarity with spacecraft subsystems and flight hardware.
  • Proficiency with Cameo, DOORS, MATLAB, SysML, UPDM, and DoDAF; ability to create schematics, interface diagrams, and data communication structures.
  • U.S. citizenship and an active DoD Top Secret security clearance with SCI are required; on-site work in a secure facility is mandatory.

Nice to have

  • Master’s degree in engineering.
  • Experience with space systems, space acquisitions, and satellite hardware and software development.
  • MBSE certification such as OCSMP or professional certification such as INCOSE CSEP, ESEP, ASEP, or PMP.
