TL;DR
Environmental Planner 1 (Environmental Planning/NEPA): Collecting and analyzing environmental data and preparing NEPA documents, technical studies, permit applications, and compliance reports for transportation projects with an accent on wetland impacts, bridge construction, and threatened and endangered species. Focus on coordinating environmental permits, participating in public and client hearings, and managing project scope, schedules, and budgets.

Location: United States, with work based out of the Nashville or Brentwood, Tennessee offices

What you will do

  • Collect and report environmental data through research, interviews, map reviews, and field investigations.
  • Prepare NEPA documents, technical memoranda, technical studies, permit applications, and related reports.
  • Prepare for and participate in public and client information meetings and hearings.
  • Support clients with permit coordination, acquisition, and compliance for wetland impacts, bridge construction, and threatened or endangered species.
  • Manage and report on environmental project scope, schedules, and budgets.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Resources, Planning, or a related field.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong writing, communication, organizational, conceptual, problem-solving, and research skills.
  • Self-starter who is committed to active participation in an employee-owned culture.
  • Local candidates are preferred for the Nashville or Brentwood offices.

Nice to have

  • At least five years of environmental experience.
  • Experience delivering complex environmental projects and programs.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • AICP certification.
