TL;DR
G/ATOR Training Specialist (Radar): Providing technical support, crew training, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair for AN/TPS-80 G/ATOR radar systems with an accent on training curriculum development, system operations, and fault isolation. Focus on supporting deployed USMC radar systems, testing upgrades and software baselines, documenting technical results, and assisting with post-installation testing.

Location: Virginia Beach, VA, United States; limited travel required, under 15%

What you will do

  • Provide technical support and subject matter expertise to the Government In-Service Engineering Agent for the AN/TPS-80 G/ATOR system.
  • Deliver new equipment and refresher training to radar crews and support training courseware and curriculum development.
  • Advise on system operations, signal flow, electronics theory, troubleshooting, fault isolation, maintenance, and repair.
  • Provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 maintenance support, logistics assistance, on-site troubleshooting, and post-installation light-off and testing.
  • Support engineering activities for G/ATOR upgrades, replacements, modifications, testing, and evaluation.
  • Review technical documentation and curriculum changes, document test and maintenance results, and provide recommendations.

Requirements

  • Active DoD Secret clearance is required.
  • Practical experience operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting USMC air search radar systems and ground-based mobile radar systems.
  • Experience delivering and developing maintenance and operator training for radar equipment.
  • Experience with air defense, surveillance, air traffic control, or ground weapons locating radar operations.
  • Knowledge of USMC maintenance processes, maintenance echelons, logistics support, radar systems, IFF equipment, and target processing operations.
  • Associate degree in a technical field, technical certification, or USMC Radar MOS; relevant instructor, weapons and tactics, acquisition, or artillery radar qualifications.

Nice to have

  • Aviation Radar Crew Chief or Maintenance Chief experience.
  • Familiarity with USMC logistics support and repair parts requisition processes.
  • Experience with electrical safety, hazardous material handling, and PPE.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and proficiency with MS Office applications.
