Software Engineer 2 - Linux/Bash/Python/IAM/CI/CD/Git

Location: Annapolis Junction, Maryland, United States — hybrid

Annual salary: $130,000–$270,000, depending on experience.

What you will do

• Implement access controls and permission mechanisms for critical HPC system resources.
• Develop secure permission management solutions aligned with agency security policies and industry standards.
• Automate Linux administration and operational processes using Bash and Python.
• Develop Ansible playbooks to provision HPC hardware and software components.
• Support CI/CD workflows using GitLab CI, Jenkins, and Git.

Requirements

• Must be a U.S. citizen and currently hold a Top Secret/SCI U.S. Government security clearance with a favorable polygraph.
• Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline plus 3 years of relevant SWE experience; or bachelor’s degree plus 5 years; or 7 years of relevant SWE experience.
• Experience with the Linux CLI, basic Linux systems administration, and user and group management.
• Experience implementing access controls and permissions, including RBAC and HBAC, in Linux environments.
• Proficiency in Bash and Python scripting and experience developing Python software solutions.
• Familiarity with Keycloak, FreeIPA, SSSD, LDAP, Kerberos, CI/CD tools, and Git.

Nice to have

• Experience with Docker, Podman, or other containerization technologies.
• Experience with Jira and Confluence.
• Familiarity with Agile, Scrum, or SAFe methodologies.
