What you will do
- Lead the development of estimates and bidding processes for complex integrated commercial projects.
- Manage multiple projects valued at approximately $50M–$300M and lead preconstruction estimators and bid takers.
- Coordinate with operations, regional leaders, architects, engineers, consultants, owners, and project teams on strategy, scope, budget, logistics, staffing, and schedules.
- Prepare conceptual, programmatic, preliminary, and construction-document estimates, including General Conditions and Construction Requirements.
- Review subcontractor scopes and proposals, identify risks, and maintain alignment between design and budget.
- Train and mentor preconstruction staff while supporting business development, client relationships, and project pursuits.
Requirements
- 15+ years of preconstruction or related experience with a commercial general contractor or major subcontractor.
- Relevant college degree in Construction Management, Construction Engineering, or an equivalent field.
- Experience with quantity takeoffs, pricing, and Divisions 01–33 across commercial construction projects.
- Experience leading multiple projects, hard-bid and negotiated pursuits, conceptual estimates, historical cost updates, and risk assessment.
- Advanced working knowledge of digitaltakeoff, Assemble, and estimating software.
- Ability to work onsite in Austin and move around uneven job-site surfaces, including outdoor conditions and equipment weighing up to 50 lb.
Nice to have
- Experience with self-perform concrete frame and other fee-enhancement trade estimates.
- Design/build experience.
- Experience with Destini Estimator, Revit, or SketchUp.
- Knowledge of local-market construction practices, means and methods, and buyout strategies.
