Location: Syracuse, New York, or Woodcliff Lake, New Jersey. Most field assignments last 1–5 days within New York State, with possible extended cross-country fieldwork. Annual field travel during the first year is estimated at 25–50%.
Expected annual compensation: $75,670–$108,100 in Syracuse, NY; $94,588–$135,125 in Woodcliff Lake, NJ.

What you will do
- Lead routine-to-complex hydrogeologic and environmental field investigations in fractured-rock, coastal-plain, and other geological settings.
- Oversee collection, processing, analysis, and interpretation of groundwater, soil, sediment, surface-water, and soil-vapor data.
- Plan and supervise monitoring-well installation, aquifer testing, high-resolution site characterization, and field sampling.
- Develop geologic and hydrogeologic cross-sections, hydrographs, conceptual site models, sampling plans, and remediation strategies.
- Manage field teams and subcontractors, mentor junior staff, and coordinate daily documentation and sample records.
- Support reports, proposals, budgets, schedules, client presentations, and project management.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Earth Science, Hydrogeology, or a closely related field.
- At least 5 years of experience in environmental consulting and prior fieldwork experience.
- Experience with well installation techniques and groundwater and soil sampling procedures and analysis.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and strong oral and written communication skills.
- Leadership skills, teamwork, and the ability to perform physically demanding work in rugged terrain, remote locations, and hot or cold conditions.
- Ability and willingness to travel; a clean driving record is required.
Nice to have
- 6–10 years of environmental consulting experience and pursuit of Professional Geologist certification, preferably in New York or Pennsylvania.
- Knowledge of NYSDEC, NJDEP, and EPA regulations and procedures.
- GIS proficiency, HAZWOPER 40-hour certification, quantitative hydrogeology experience, and ASTM Phase I/II reporting experience.
- Familiarity with MODFLOW, MT3DMS, AQTESOLV, and related numerical or analytical software.
- Active participation in professional societies and local availability.
