TL;DR
Senior Equipment Technician - Life Sciences Manufacturing (biotechnology equipment and regulated production): Maintaining, calibrating, repairing, and improving manufacturing and facilities equipment in an onsite Toronto operation with an accent on preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, asset management, and compliance. Focus on diagnosing complex equipment failures, managing calibration and repair workflows, maintaining spare-parts inventories, and developing performance metrics for life-science equipment.

Location: Onsite in Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Pay range: CAD 22.40–30.80 per hour, plus eligibility for a target annual cash bonus based on individual and company performance.

What you will do

  • Diagnose, calibrate, verify, repair, and maintain production equipment such as jigs, pipettes, centrifuges, water purification systems, refrigerators, and analyzers.
  • Perform internal calibration and IQ/OQ/PQ activities and troubleshoot in-house analyzers of moderate complexity.
  • Maintain spare equipment parts and consumables to minimize production downtime.
  • Coordinate repairs of facilities equipment, including HVAC systems, air filtration units, and generators, and implement corrective actions based on root-cause analysis.
  • Maintain work orders, inspection records, equipment documentation, asset databases, and equipment-related KPI metrics.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing and process engineers, provide technical support, and lead training on new and existing equipment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma with 5+ years of relevant experience, a technical or associate degree with 3+ years, or an undergraduate degree with 1+ year.
  • Experience troubleshooting complex equipment, strong problem-solving ability, and strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and optical systems, basic hand and power tools, and Microsoft Office or comparable software.
  • Experience setting up and maintaining equipment databases or life-science asset management systems.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, prioritize multiple demands, work independently and collaboratively, and work flexible or extended hours when needed.
  • Experience working with equipment in regulated environments, including ISO 9001 and ISO 17025 standards.

Nice to have

  • Prior experience with biotechnology equipment.
  • Experience as an EH&S representative or committee member.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing.
