TL;DR
CNC Setup Programmer (Machine Shop) (CNC lathes): Programming and setting up twin-spindle, twin-turret CNC lathes for efficient, high-quality production with an accent on bar feeder and chucking setups, live tooling, and first-off requirements. Focus on optimizing cycle times, troubleshooting programs, conducting in-process inspections, and improving machining processes through Lean manufacturing techniques.

Location: Brampton, Ontario, Canada; on-site, 6:00 AM–2:30 PM shift

Salary: CAD 27–35 per hour

What you will do

  • Develop, optimize, troubleshoot, and maintain CNC lathe programs.
  • Set up machines for operators, including first-off requirements for repeat production jobs.
  • Select tools and fixtures for new parts and reduce machine cycle times.
  • Operate machines when setup or programming is not required and assemble components during cycle time.
  • Inspect machined parts in-process using precision measuring instruments.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams on Lean manufacturing, setup reduction, waste reduction, preventive maintenance, housekeeping, and equipment issue reporting.

Requirements

  • 5–10 years of experience programming and setting up twin-spindle, twin-turret CNC lathes.
  • Proficiency with bar feeders, chucking setups, live tools, and modern machining technologies.
  • Ability to read technical drawings and blueprints and working knowledge of GD&T.
  • Experience using micrometers and height gauges; CMM experience is an asset.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles and strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • ISO-certified manufacturing experience is preferred.

Nice to have

  • Experience with castings.
  • SolidWorks or similar CAD software experience.
  • Crane training.
  • CMM experience.
