Mechanical Technician/Journeyman (Automotive)

Location: Vars, Ontario (Ottawa), Canada; onsite work required

Salary: $37.50–$40.00 CAD per hour, depending on experience, skills, qualifications, and other relevant factors.

What you will do

• Perform mechanical inspections and repairs on auction vehicles, including brake, exhaust, front-end, ball joint, and air conditioning work.
• Complete maintenance services such as oil and fluid changes, tire changes, vehicle checkovers, and shop maintenance.
• Inspect undercarriages and assess body, frame, transmission, differential, and powertrain condition.
• Conduct pre-sale and post-sale inspections, test drives, diagnostic checks, and motor vehicle safety inspections.
• Complete safety checklists, work orders, parts and labor entries, quotes, and related administrative tasks.
• Mentor and assist apprentice technicians and help source parts when required.

Requirements

• Red Seal Automotive Service Technician certification (310S in Ontario) is required.
• At least 2 years of automotive technician experience, including repairs to mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems.
• Automotive Service Technician Certification and a valid driver’s license.
• Computer and smartphone proficiency, strong attention to detail, and a commitment to safety.
• Ability to work at the Vars location, where public transportation is unavailable.

Nice to have

• Experience mentoring apprentice technicians.
• Dealership or busy repair shop experience.
• Experience with OEM diagnostics.
• Ability to source parts and assist with customer quotes.
