Controller (Fintech)

Location: Chicago, IL; work arrangements range from fully remote to hybrid.

Base salary: $235,000–$275,000 annually, plus eligibility for a performance-based bonus.

hirify.global operates a trading-focused, subscription-based business with accounting requirements spanning payouts, clearing accounts, payments, and regulatory compliance.

What you will do

• Lead the accounting organization across revenue, general ledger, and operational accounting.
• Own monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting under U.S. GAAP and applicable trading and brokerage regulations.
• Manage external audits, audit deliverables, regulatory readiness, and relationships with auditors, regulators, banks, and service providers.
• Oversee reconciliations, month-end close, payout accounting, revenue recognition, deferred revenue, clearing accounts, and complex accounting discrepancies.
• Design and continuously improve internal controls, accounting policies, workflows, and risk mitigation processes.
• Maintain accounting systems, integrations, data quality, and alignment between Accounting, FP&A, and Finance Operations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
• CPA designation required or strongly preferred.
• 10+ years of progressive accounting and finance leadership experience, including 5+ years managing accounting teams and 2–3 years in a Controller role.
• Extensive knowledge of U.S. GAAP, ASC 606, financial reporting, external audits, and regulatory requirements.
• Experience building scalable accounting processes, controls, and teams in high-growth environments.
• Advanced ERP experience, preferably NetSuite or a similar enterprise accounting platform.

Nice to have

• Experience in fintech, trading, payments, or subscription-based businesses.
• Experience with multi-processor payout and clearing account reconciliation.
• Background in regulatory, compliance, or broker-dealer environments.
• Experience with AP automation tools and payroll platforms such as Paylocity.
