AN/SPS-48 Depot Repair Technician (Radar)

Location: Virginia Beach, Virginia, United States; onsite work in a laboratory or submarine environment. Travel requirements are less than 5%.

What you will do

• Troubleshoot, repair, align, calibrate, and test AN/SPS-48 and USMC radar assemblies, subassemblies, circuit card modules, and complete systems.
• Use oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, network analyzers, multimeters, power meters, and automated test equipment for precision diagnostics.
• Install complex system upgrades and implement configuration changes based on engineering change orders, technical directives, and modification instructions.
• Execute Acceptance Test Procedures and System Operational Verification Testing, documenting results and recommendations.
• Support radar upgrade design, testing, analysis, failure investigations, and root-cause analysis.
• Develop AutoCAD drawings and Standard Operating Procedures from engineering specifications and technical documentation.

Requirements

• Active Secret security clearance required.
• Associate’s degree in a technical field, technical certification, or AN/SPS-48 Navy NEC.
• Experience managing funding, reporting financial status, and projecting resource requirements.
• Ability to interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, Navy technical manuals, and other technical documentation.
• Ability to perform depot-level radar troubleshooting and repair across RF, analog, digital, servo, and power-distribution components.
• Ability to document troubleshooting results, technical procedures, test outcomes, and recommendations.

Nice to have

• Experience maintaining and troubleshooting AN/SPS-48 or USMC surveillance radars.
• AN/SPS-48 radar NEC, shipboard equipment installation, or micro-miniature repair experience.
• Experience fabricating multipin copper connectors and fiber-optic terminations.
• Knowledge of CAD, MS Office, technical writing, OSHA safety procedures, electrical safety, hazardous-material handling, and PPE.
