Principal Actuary

Location: Remote Flex - North Carolina, United States; remote work with a few in-office visits each year, depending on distance from the Durham headquarters.

Salary: $118,691–$189,906 annually, plus annual incentive bonus and benefits.

What you will do

• Perform highly complex actuarial modeling, analysis, valuation, and financial forecasting.
• Develop and maintain rating models, conduct medical trend, experience, and rating factor studies, and support rate filing development.
• Provide actuarial support for Network Management, including evaluating the financial impact of provider contract changes.
• Support underwriting requests across all business segments.
• Support new product development and existing product programs in partnership with Sales and Marketing.
• Lead or provide consultative support for assigned projects and contribute expert guidance to actuarial teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or advanced degree, where required.
• Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA) and Member of the American Academy of Actuaries (MAAA), or acceptable alternate actuarial credentials.
• At least 5 years of experience in a related field, unless holding Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) credentials.
• Maintain continuing education requirements established by the appropriate actuarial governing body.
• Participate in good standing in the Actuarial Development Program if still pursuing the FSA designation.
