Staff Actuary (Health Insurance)

Location: Chicago, Illinois; hybrid work with an in-office requirement of 3 days per week

Base pay: $92,700–$167,500 annually, with eligibility for an annual incentive bonus.

What you will do

• Assess the impact of company decisions and business situations using statistics, financial theory, mathematics, and actuarial principles.
• Perform actuarial work across pricing, underwriting, statistics, reserving, forecasting, and related functions.
• Analyze data and communicate concepts, findings, and recommendations to different audiences.
• Prepare documentation, facilitate training and development, and participate in presentations.
• Manage small projects with limited interaction outside the Actuarial department.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, economics, or another relevant field.
• Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA) designation and membership in the American Academy of Actuaries (MAAA).
• At least 3 years of actuarial experience.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills for documentation, training, and presentations.
• PC proficiency, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Visa sponsorship is not available for this role.

Nice to have

• Experience with Access, SQL, Visual Basic, or other programming tools.
• Actuarial experience in health insurance or a related field.
• Experience with financial forecasting, membership forecasting, actual-to-expected analysis, and financial reporting.
