Mechanical Engineer – Product Development & Productivity

Location: Hartsville, South Carolina, USA; based at the corporate headquarters

Annual base salary: $107,440.00–$120,870.00

What you will do

• Manage technical projects involving product and process development, product design optimization, material optimization, and productivity improvement.
• Lead projects from inception and development through testing, commercialization, and successful delivery.
• Collaborate with engineers, scientists, project managers, technicians, and cross-functional partners in Operations, Sales, Quality, and Marketing.
• Work hands-on in R&D facilities to prototype, experiment with, and refine paper-based industrial products and processes.
• Use Python, Minitab, and Excel for technical analysis, productivity assessments, and data-driven decisions.
• Provide leadership updates on project status, milestones, timelines, and strategic alignment while identifying opportunities to reduce product cost and complexity.

Requirements

• BS, MS, or PhD in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field.
• 5+ years of experience managing technical and/or engineering projects is desired.
• Proven project management experience.
• Ability to collaborate effectively in a cross-functional team and apply creative problem-solving.
• Ability to work onsite in Hartsville, South Carolina, USA.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of the paper industry.
• PMP, PMI, or PPM certification.
