Engineering Technician 1 (Semiconductor)

Location: Palm Bay, Florida, United States — 100% onsite. Travel to external radiation test facilities is required, including approximately 8 trips per year lasting 6–10 days, with overnight and weekend work.

What you will do

• Prepare devices under test, PCBs, cabling, harnesses, and test fixtures for radiation testing.
• Set up, verify, and operate oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, electronic loads, and signal sources.
• Execute total ionizing dose and single-event-effects test campaigns according to established procedures.
• Travel to radiation facilities and operate tests during scheduled gamma, X-ray, proton, and heavy-ion beam time.
• Monitor devices, capture and log test data, and maintain organized test records.
• Support automated test setups and data-acquisition scripts.

Requirements

• Current authorization to work full-time in the United States is required; visa sponsorship is not available, including for F1/OPT visas.
• Associate’s degree or 3 years of experience in electronics, electrical engineering technology, or a related technical discipline.
• Understanding of electronics laboratory equipment and basic soldering, including through-hole and SMT work.
• Ability to read schematics, datasheets, and written test procedures, with strong attention to detail and documentation skills.
• Familiarity with ESD-safe handling and ability to work independently and within a small test team under time pressure.
• Ability to lift and transport equipment and shipping cases up to approximately 50 pounds and work in laboratory, cleanroom, and accelerator environments.

Nice to have

• PCB design and layout experience.
• Coursework or exposure to radiation-effects concepts and relevant testing standards.
• Basic Python, LabVIEW, GPIB, or SCPI scripting for test automation and instrument control.
• Experience with microcontrollers, FPGAs, device decapsulation, or high-reliability aerospace and defense electronics.
