Production Engineer (Electrical Test) — Robotics (Electrical Test/Robotics): Building and owning manual and automated electrical test systems for robot components and assemblies with an accent on PCBAs, power systems, sensors, actuators, wire harnesses, and production safety testing. Focus on developing Python-based fixtures, capturing traceable MES data, troubleshooting failures to the component level, and scaling reliable production test coverage.

Location: Watertown, Massachusetts, United States. Workplace: On-site.

What you will do

  • Design and deploy manual and automated electrical test systems for robot components and assemblies.
  • Develop production tests for PCBAs, power distribution, motor controllers, batteries and BMS, sensors, actuators, and wire harnesses.
  • Build test fixtures, Python automation, pass/fail criteria, and end-to-end electrical test coverage.
  • Own production electrical safety and compliance testing, including hipot, ground bond, continuity, insulation resistance, and ESD controls.
  • Capture serial-number test results in the ION MES and use production data to improve yield, reduce defect escapes, rework, test time, and cost.
  • Troubleshoot failures to the PCBA and component level, perform PCB bring-up and firmware validation, conduct board-level debug and rework, and support production scaling.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in electrical test, manufacturing, or hardware engineering, with strong electrical engineering fundamentals and hands-on hardware experience.
  • Experience with PCB/PCBA bring-up, testing, and component-level troubleshooting.
  • Hands-on experience using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, multimeters, current probes, power supplies, and electronic loads.
  • Experience developing automated hardware test systems and fixtures.
  • Python skills and enough embedded firmware familiarity to debug with the Firmware team.
  • Working knowledge of CAN, Ethernet, I2C, SPI, or UART, with comfort spending significant time on the manufacturing floor.

Nice to have

  • Experience with power electronics, motor controls, batteries/BMS, or robotics systems.
  • PCB rework and soldering experience.
  • Safety and compliance testing experience, including hipot, ground bond, and insulation resistance.
  • Experience integrating test data into an MES or similar production system.
