Sales Support Specialist (Industrial Gases)

Location: On-site in Hammond, Indiana, at a retail shop; an additional listed location is South Chicago Heights, Illinois, at a filling industrial site. Office hours are Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM–4:00 PM or 8:00 AM–4:30 PM.

Salary: $27–$30 per hour

What you will do

• Provide administrative and operational support to outside sales and branch teams, including order entry, quotations, and account setup.
• Manage the full order lifecycle, including modifications, cancellations, tracking, and delivery documentation.
• Monitor back orders, resolve order discrepancies, and communicate timelines to internal and external stakeholders.
• Coordinate with logistics teams and vendors to meet customer needs and confirm product availability and pricing.
• Handle customer inquiries with a focus on accurate, supportive, first-contact resolution.
• Identify workflow improvements and cross-train with the Sales Support Manager to maintain team continuity.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least 3 years of customer service experience.
• Effective verbal and written communication, strong organization, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple workflows.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office or Google Suite; experience with ERP and CRM software such as SAP and Salesforce is preferred.
• Ability to research products, solve customer problems, collaborate across departments, and meet team timelines.

Nice to have

• Experience in the packaged gas or welding supply industry.
• Associate degree or equivalent professional experience.
