Strategic Finance Manager (FP&A)

Location: Chicago, IL, United States

Base salary: $120,000–$150,000 USD annually, plus eligibility for an annual bonus.

What you will do

• Own, maintain, and improve operating, forecasting, and scenario-based financial models.
• Build Excel models from historical financial and operational data and ensure their accuracy and quality.
• Perform scenario analysis, profitability assessments, risk analysis, and monthly variance analysis.
• Maintain cash-basis P&L, Cash EBITDA, cash balance, and long-term cash projections.
• Partner with business leaders, FP&A Operations, and Accounting on assumption updates, reporting, GAAP-aligned financial updates, and lender reporting.
• Support the Annual Operating Plan, lender budgets, senior-management decision-making, and investor and financial presentations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
• 4–5 years of experience in FP&A, public accounting, corporate accounting, or corporate finance, including 2+ years building and maintaining complex financial models and managing a team.
• Excellent Excel and data skills, with the ability to build projection curves.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, quantitative, verbal, and written communication skills.
• High standards of accuracy, organization, integrity, follow-through, and the ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
• Experience with Claude, Gemini, or another AI platform.

Nice to have

• Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and experience with structured ERP systems such as NetSuite.
• Experience working for a private-equity-backed firm.
• Interest in learning business operations and strategy and challenging the status quo.
